MEETINGS AND STUDIES

Grace Fellowship, in its desire to glorify the true and living God through Jesus Christ, meets together on a regular basis that we might continue steadfast in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. We come together to edify the body in love through ministering to one another in accordance with the giftednessness of each individual member.

“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Pet. 4:10-11; see also Eph. 4:11-16)

As a new covenant assembly of believers, we are now the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 6:19-20; Eph. 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:5,9). Thus, we are to worship God in spirit and in truth all the time:

  • “spirit” - worship God in our hearts, not just externally with our lips;
  • “truth” - the true God as He has revealed Himself to be in the Scriptures)

We gather together as worshippers of God to build up one another through the Word of truth and to love and encourage each other through obedience to the “one another” commands of our Lord. Our desire is that all of our meetings would have a Christ-centered focus that God might be glorified in all things. We always want to point people away from the “broken cisterns” of the world to the all-satisfying, glorious God in whom we live and move and have our being (See Jer. 2:13; Ps. 16:11; Ps. 81:8-16; Isa. 55:1-4; John 4:13-14; Heb. 11:24-27; 1 Jn. 1:3-4). As God is known in His glorious attributes through Jesus Christ, our love and awe of Him grows and we are enabled to trust Him more. The just shall live by faith. May the Lord be magnified!

OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDIFICATION AND FELLOWSHIP

Church Gatherings

We gather on Sunday mornings in Saskatoon, in the Sutherland Hall from 10:00 a.m. until around 12:00 noon. We gather to celebrate the Lord’s Table and to consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. We fellowship in the apostle’s doctrine and in prayer to and in praise of the glorious God in whom we live and move and have our being.

Our local church is a specific group of believers living in relationship to one another. It is not an event performed in a special building. We do not gather “for church”; we, the church (members of the body of Christ), gather for the edification of one another (as stated above). Our teaching takes place in an atmosphere of give and take. Effective teaching occurs when gifted teachers are combined with the priesthood of all believers. Because of this, we encourage active participation and interaction of the entire fellowship for the edification of one another, that we might be eternally happy in our holy, sovereign God. This also provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals seeking to know Jesus, and who have questions that they are struggling with in the search for truth.

Acts 2:41-42 - “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly …

… in the apostles’ doctrine …

Jesus declared in His prayer, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth.” Thus, we are committed to a careful exposition of the Scriptures that we might know our God and understand and obey the whole counsel of God. God has gifted men to teach the truths of His Word. Our teaching is not simply one way communication. Our goal is the building up of the body. Individuals are encouraged to ask questions, as we look to the Scriptures together, in coming to an understanding of the truth.

CURRENT SERIES - “Acts”

- ‘Follow Me … You Will Be My Witnesses’

Video Introduction to the series:

Everyone welcome.

… and fellowship …

As members of the body of Christ, we have fellowship with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ, and thus with one another. In order to minister one to another, we take time to encourage and instruct each other from the Word. Opportunity is given to share concerns and needs that we can better minister to each other.

… in the breaking of bread …

Each week, we break bread (symbolizing the body of our Lord) and drink from the cup (symbolizing the new covenant purchased through Christ’s shed blood) to celebrate the internal, spiritual, and historical reality of Jesus Christ and His so great salvation graciously bestowed upon us. This memorial is for His people, that we would be humbled and our faith would be strengthened as we await that great day when we will dine with Him at His table face to face.

… and in prayers …

As believer-priests, we can communicate with the God of heaven and earth, as we come to Him in the name of our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. The riches of God’s grace are magnified when we depend upon Him by prayer rather than looking to our own resources. Prayers of confession, praise, thanksgiving, and intercession, according to the will of God are offered by the saints for His glory.

Community Groups

-Community groups are one of the primary vehicles through which Grace Fellowship gathers to live life for Jesus in and among the city: knowing culture, loving people, and seeing lives transformed for Jesus through authentic relationships.

It is our purpose to see lives transformed by integrating all areas of life and faith, developing relationships to live out love for Jesus in community, and to see expressions of gifts being used to further the kingdom of God within the city, ultimately manifesting in the salvation of unbelievers.

What do Community Groups actually do?
Weekly or bi-weekly meetings involve conversation, prayer, and discussion for applying the Bible to practical living. Community Groups are an environment for building relationships with one another, which strongly emphasizes challenging one another to drive God’s Word deeply into our lives. Most Groups follow the Sunday sermon series. Community groups are much more than a Bible study. They are community; a place where we can laugh, cry, work and play together for glory of Jesus.

Sermon based groups
At Grace Fellowship we have always honored Scripture as the means by which God has chosen to reveal Himself and His Truth to us. In keeping with that conviction, our community groups focus on building life-changing relationships around the teachings of Scripture. Our expectation is that the community groups not merely discuss the content of the sermon, but go even further and discuss the actual sections of Scripture upon which the sermon was based. In this way, the collective insights from the personal study of each group member more fully enriches everyone’s understanding of what God is saying through His Word.

Becoming a part of the community
Community groups are for those who call Grace Fellowship home and for those who are interested in learning more about Jesus. The best way to get connected is to email Murray and he will assist you in finding a group. Times and locations can be found on the calendar page.
